DIY OWL PILLOW

Ho una cugina, che oltretutto si sposerà a giugno, che ha la passione per i gufi, così ho realizzato questo simpatico cuscino per il suo compleanno!!!

I have this cousing, that by the way is gonna get married in June, who has a passion for owls, so I made this cute pillow for her birthday!!!

L'occorrente per questo progetto è: cartamodello (che potete trovare qui), stoffe diverse, spilli, cotone per riempire, feltro, gesso da sarto, bottoni per gli occhi.

La realizzazione è semplice anche se un pò lunga. Ho fatto stampare il modello in copisteria in modo che il corpo fosse alto circa 50 cm e l'ho modificato leggermente rispetto all'originale in modo che diventasse un porta telecomandi!!!
Dopo aver tagliato tutte le parti le ho puntate con gli spilli sulla stoffa (ho usato dei vecchi avanzi di altri lavori, alcuni erano più vecchi di me!!!), ho tracciato il contorno con il gesso da sarto e ho tagliato i vari pezzi lasciando un po di margine per le cuciture.
Ho tagliato su una fodera due parti del corpo per creare il dentro del cuscino, le ho cucite e l'ho imbottita a dovere.
Successivamente ho imbastito i singoli pezzi creando l'orlo della parte e rifinendo, in questo modo, la forma. Dopo aver ripassato gli orli con la macchina, ho unito le varie parti e le ho cucite alla base del davanti. Ho cucito la cerniera dietro e poi ho unito le due metà del corpo. Ho inserito la parte imbottita nel corpo e... voilà!

Mia cugina non l'ha ancora visto ma spero che le piaccia davvero tanto quanto piace a me!!!

The realization is easy even if a bit long. I had the pattern printed in the typing office so that the body could be 50 cm tall and I modified it a bit from the original so that it could become a remote holder!!!
After cutting all the pieces I pinned them all to the fabric (I used old leftovers from other projects, some were older than me!!!), I traced the outlines with the tailor's chalk and cut the pieces leaving seam allowance.
I cut on a lining two pieces of the body to create the inside of the pillow, I sewed them and stuffed it really good.
Next I basted all the pieces to create a hem and finishing the shapes.
After sewing the hems with the sewing machine, I united all the pieces and sewed them to the base of the frontal piece. I sewed the zipper on the back and joined the two halves of the body. I put the stuffed part inside the cover and voilà!

My cousin didn't see it yet but I hope she likes it as much as I do!!!
