Ci piace molto e il cinema del paese dove abito io, due volte la settimana ripropone, in una delle 4 sale a disposizione, qualche film della stagione precedente, alcuni molto famosi, altri meno.
Recentemente siamo state a vedere PHILOMENA, film candidato agli Oscar, con una fantastica Judi Dench (come sempre).
Fede and I often go to the cinema.
We love it and the cinema in my town, twice a week repeats, in one of the 4 halls available, some of the prevoius season, some more famous than others.
Recently we went to see PHILOMENA,Oscar nominated, with an amazing (as always) Judi Dench.
Per prima cosa mi sento in dovere di dirvi che ho pianto tutto il film. E ve lo dico subito così che sappiate di che genere di film si tratta.
È la storia di una anziana signora che confessa alla figlia di avere avuto un bambino da ragazza e che le suore che la avevano aiutata a farlo nascere, dopo averla obbligata a lavorare per loro per 4 anni per ripagarle del debito, avevano dato via il suo bambino.
Questa confessione viene fatta il giorno del 50° compleanno del bambino. La storia giunge ad un giornalista, Martin Sixsmith, al momento disoccupato per uno scandalo che lo coinvolgeva in prima persona, , tramite la figlia di Philomena, che gli chiede se può aiutare la madre a cercare il figlio e a raccontarne la storia.
Non vi svelerò il finale, ovviamente, ma sappiate che è triste. Tremendamente triste. Vi posso che è interpretato da un cast stupendo e il sapere che la storia è vera...mi ha lasciata stupefatta.
In ogni caso vi consiglio di vederlo anche se magari vi conviene farlo prima di avere figli o aspettare che siamo molto grandi!

First of all I feel I need to tell you that I cried the whole movie. And I'm telling you this so that you know what kind of movie it's about.
It's the story of an old lady, Philomena Lee, that confesses her daughter that when she was a young girl had a child and that the nuns helped her to give birth to him, after compelling her to work for them to pay for her debt, gave her child away.
This confession is being made on her son's 50th birthday. The story comes to a journalist, Martin Sixsmith, at moment unemployed because of a scandal that involved him personally, through Philomena's daughter, and she asks him to help her mom to find her son and to tell her story.
I won't tell you how it ends, of course, just know that it's sad. Terribly sad. I can just tell you that it's played by an amazing cast and to know that it's a true story... stunned me.
Anyway, my suggestion is to go and see it, even if you should do it before you have kids or wait until they're older!
